Synopsis

A Hungarian and an Italian woman live as a family in Puglia, raising their daughter together.

Luca inevitably becomes more attached as a mother to Csilla, who gave birth to her. A more sensitive woman, she is inherently closer to the role of mother than the pragmatic and temperamental Gemma. Their bilingualism also influences their relationship, which in our story also shapes Luca’s development and her attitude toward the world at the age of four. All three of them feel the need to negotiate these evolving roles in everyday situations, even in the smallest of moments. Still, their love for each other can push them over these obstacles to live together as a real family.

What happens when, after Csilla’s unexpected death, Gemma is left alone with Luca and confronts the law and her religious family over their forbidden childbearing?
